WebStart Deployments

A WebStart Deployment is a web based deployment method that does not require configuring Windows Provisioning/OOBE (Out of Box Experience). WebStart can deploy RMM agent (if Automate integration configured or the agent is included as a Custom Installer) and apply the same configuration profiles/naming rules as a OneTouch Deployment can.

Each WebStart Deployment will have a custom URL in the format https://www.ezdeploy.io/VanityURL and randomly generated ezdeploy PIN. Visit the custom URL from target computer - enter corresponding PIN then click download to obtain the EzDeployAgent.msi. Once launched the msi will install the Ezdservice immediately since there is no Windows Provisioning step being done with WebStart.

Once you have downloaded the EzDeployAgent.msi you can actually copy to USB or file share to access for additional machines rather than having to visit the website from each one.

WebStart Deployments page

Menu Bar options:

New	Select to create a new WebStart Deployment
Edit	Select an existing WebStart Deployment- then click Edit to make changes.
Duplicate	Select an existing WebStart Deployment - then click Duplicate to create a copy which will default to “WebStart Name - Copy” as WebStart Name.
Delete	Select an existing WebStart Deployment - then click Delete. You will be prompted to confirm deletion.
Show Column Chooser	Selecting allows you to choose which columns to display. Example 8 of the 10 available columns are displayed.

Filter Row	This allows you to search/filter based on the available column data. Text can be typed in the Name, Welcome Message URL, Modified By and Created By columns. Client and Location columns have a Dropdown Selector. Modified On and Created On columns have a Date Selector.

WebStart Deployment Components

Name	Name for WebStart Deployment
Configuration Profile	Configuration Profile selection
Rename Computer	Enabled by default. Disabled - section is empty Enabled - section has two options: Enter Computer Name (2-15) chars - manual entry Use Naming Rule - will apply Naming Rule from selected Configuration Profile automatically if present. If no naming rule on the Configuration Profile - option will be greyed out
Enable RMM Agent Install	Enable to install RMM Agent (default is enabled). If RMM Agent already installed - then the installation will be skipped. However the option is required to be enabled if you have any RMM scripts in your configuration profile. If you disable you will get warning message:
Welcome Message	Text to display when launching WebStart Deployment. HTML fragments are supported and you don’t need to specify the <html> or <body> tags. However you would have to specify tags for other display elements.
WebStart URL	Enter the desired value that will be appended as your specific Webstart Deployment URL formatted as: https://www.ezdeploy.io/VanityURL If you do not enter - “The VanityURL field is required” will display when clicking on Submit button:
EZDeploy Pin	Pin is automatically generated however you can generate a new random value by clicking the generate button:
Upload New Image or Use an Existing Image	Image to display on splash screen along with your Welcome Message text when launching WebStart Deployment. Upload New Image (click Select Image (500 KB max) button and browse to desired image file Use an Existing Image - select image from dropdown list.
